Check-In letter

Dear Ms Priester,

I came to this class late so I didn’t experience as much as the other students, but the time I was here I experienced many things I haven’t at other schools. Coming to this school was a big change for me. In my prior English classes we would do most of our work from text books, so being in this class was at first difficult, but as time went on it was easy to adjust to.
I learned more about technology academically and because I only used it socially it opened my mind to new things and different ways to do them. Most teachers would give us slack and more time than expected to turn in assignments, but in this class it was different. If we didn’t turn in our assignments on time, we would probably be given time to finish it but on our own schedule. We would have a different assignment after another, so if we didn’t work on the things we needed when given time then our work would build up and we would eventually fall behind. This helped me learn time management skills. I also learned how to speak in a more proper way, and how to overcome my stubbornness. I usually don’t like to ask people for help; I would rather figure things out on my own, but being that this class was so different from my others I had learn how to depend on my peers sometimes. Public speaking became a little easier for me, starting off slow—doing 10 second sound off to acting out each others plays in groups. I never liked to express myself and speak about my past to others but the play assignment helped me mentally grieve about what really happen instead of always pushing things away or keeping them inside.
I’ve learned a lot my three months in this class, but not only in this class have I learned things. I believe this campus alone changed me as a person. Before I came here, I wasn’t aware of what I was capable of doing, or you can even call it careless. I didn’t go to school everyday, and I was a D average. Now I have a 3.0. I’m still working on things but I'm moving up and growing as a person. I never had or set goals for myself but now I do and learned that they can really help. I have small goals that I want to eventually lead to my big dreams. I want to be the first to graduate high school out of my family and actually make it to college. When I finish college I want to become a psychiatrist for children only. After a few years, I want to open my own group home, and when I’m ready I want to adopt a kid because I scared to have my own.

APA format

APA formate has two parts. One is the In-text citation,it is found in the body of an essay, it is inside parentheses, it is a part of a sentece, the period comes after the parentheses. It is a short referecnce to the original publication, it includes the Author's last name and the date of the publicaion, it can include the page number. You must use it when you paraphrase the ideas form an original publication. The second is the reference page, it's full of the listing's you used in your essay, you have to list your sourses alphabtically, your qoute's or paraphrase have to be on this page. You would begin with the author's last name then thier initials, the date of the publicaion and the title of the book. If their is no author begin with the title, If there is no date write n.d.

My weekend

My day yesterday was very different then my other days here. I went to poetry slam with a few people and the ride back was a little interesting. I think I'm finally getting used to being here. I'm still excited about my weekend. I'm going to see my best friend today on pass. It's my first over night pass. I'm happy and excited but also nervous. I hope I can trust myself to do good and not go back to my old ways I don't want to see my ex-girlfriend so I'm hoping I don't but she knows I'm coming. I plan to take my niece to the park or do something with her if i can, or if her mom let's me. I want to go to the mall with my twin, but i know i cant do this all in one day but this is what I plan.

I am happy about getting the new laptop cart, because we will always have a computer to do our work. I'm happy today because I used to have a D in Mr.Walker's class and now i have a C.This weekend I might be able to spend the night over my auntie's house. My social worker is finally letting me see my friends and girlfriend if I do, so I'm happy about that. I plan on going to see my best friend who I haven't seen since iv been here, I'm really excited about that too. I miss my niece so much but I cant see her. I talked to her on the pone last night and it was so cute.

Earthquake Narrative

Yesterday when the earthquake had happen I was in the girl's rec . I didn't feel it until I had stood up and start walking home. It felt so wired, at first I didn't know what was happing until i seen everybody yelling and running outside. When it was over I thought it was cool.
